Stewardship

At St. Mark’s, we work hard to care for all the gifts we have been given, especially people, property, and money.  As Christians, we recognize that we have been blessed by God’s goodness in many ways and that all our resources belong to God.  We also believe that we express our love for God and one another by the ways we use our resources, and that we are called to generous giving, as individuals and as a community.

Vestry
The Vestry is composed of two Wardens, a Treasurer, a Clerk, nine other parishioners and the Rector.  The Vestry has three primary responsibilities:  to take care of the parish finances, to take care of the parish buildings, and to choose individuals to fill various positions of parish leadership: the election of a rector, the choice of delegates to the diocesan convention and the selection of other individuals as the diocesan canons and parish by-laws may stipulate.

The officers (wardens, treasurer, and clerk) are elected at the Annual Meeting for a term of one year.  The nine other Vestry members also are elected at Annual Meeting for staggered three year terms.  All regular Vestry meetings are posted on the parish calendar and parishioners are welcome to attend.

Childcare/Nursery
All children are welcome at the worship service, however, childcare is available from 9 to 12:00 for children under the age of 8.   Parents may bring their children to the church for communion and pick up the church school age children to bring to Church school after the service.  Young children are cared for until after Coffee and Conversation.  A light snack is provided.

adult and family fellowship
Following the 9:45 am Sunday worship service is an opportunity for parishioners to socialize in the undercroft or outside in the summer.   Volunteer parishioners prepare coffee and tea; bring milk for coffee, a drink for children and treats to go with the coffee.  Cleanup is usually finished half an hour after the church service is finished.  This is a good chance to meet fellow parishioners in a relaxed setting.  A sign up sheet and directions are located in the kitchen.

Landscaping Committee
The committee is responsible for maintenance of the church grounds. There are areas on the church grounds, a particular garden or planters, individuals may take responsibility for maintaining.  Twice a year, in the spring and fall, the committee arranges a clean-up day inviting the entire parish to participate.

New Members Committee
The group is dedicated to welcoming all new individuals and families to St. Mark’s. In addition to helping people feel welcome at St. Mark’s and joining our very active Parish life the group organizes social events, develops printed material and maintains the name badges.
