We learn in
many different ways—through formal study, through work and play together,
and by reflecting on our experience in the light of the Christian
tradition. As we explore our own faith tradition, we also find more ways
that we can connect our human story with God’s divine story. And we
discover that the joy of learning is often in the questions, not just the
answers.
Adult Forums-Bible Study
Once a month, Adult Forums are offered at
11:00 a.m., while Church School is in session. This time is used to discuss
a variety of current issues and interests. Past topics included an
introduction to the Bible, discussions of The Davinci Code and the movie
“The Passion of the Christ,” and sharing our views about the blessing of
same-sex unions.
Book Group
The Book Club meets monthly for a lively
discussion on a previously chosen book.
Christmas Pageant
The Pageant is open to all youth
in the parish, from pre-school through to high school, and many years have
seen everyone from infants and toddlers to elementary, middle school, and
high school students participating. The pageant also involves many other
parishioners who help by designing and painting the set, contributing and
coordinating props, collecting and creating costumes, providing snacks, and
assisting at rehearsals. Youth sign up for the pageant in early October;
auditions are not required.
Youth Education Committee and
Church School
The committee’s five members
each serve a three- year term beginning in June. Meetings are held monthly
to choose the religious curriculum, recruit teachers, and provide a rich and
fulfilling religious education experience for the young people at St.
Mark’s. YEC also plans activities for the youth or intergenerational
activities like the Jesse Tree decorations
