Outreach Ministry

Our mission is to provide local, regional and global outreach and to encourage members of the parish to participate in these activities.  We work primarily with the Foxboro Food Pantry, the Foxboro Discretionary Fund, and Episcopal Relief & Development.  We encourage parishioners to contribute food items and laundry detergent which are presented at the altar and delivered weekly to the Foxboro Food Pantry.

St. Mark’s participates in monthly breakfasts at All Saints in Attleboro for the needy in the area, a project sponsored by our Deanery. Twice annually, St. Mark’s sponsors the breakfast providing the food for our guests and we are committed to supply laundry detergent throughout the year.  Youth members from St. Mark’s, including the confirmation group, have participated in this activity.  When our team sponsored the breakfast in October one of our members generously underwrote the cost of the magician’s entertainment.

Every year in November and December we put up the Giving Tree in the narthex on which parishioners contribute hats, gloves and mittens for distribution to the needy by the Foxboro Discretionary Fund.  This year they set up in our pews large bags for 220 families, each filled with clothing and toys – and with the hats, gloves and mittens contributed by St. Mark’s, enough for something in every bag!  Thanks to all who made our support so successful.

At the beginning of summer, parishioners contributed generously to our appeal for backpacks and school supplies. The collection was then distributed by the Foxboro Discretionary Fund to children in need in our area.

Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) is an arm of the Episcopal Church in the United States dedicated to national and world-wide disaster relief.  In the past year, ERD solicitated funds for the victims of Hurricane Darian.  Our parishioners responded generously and the Outreach Ministry contributed a matching donation increasing our total contribution to $600.

In early December the Daniels family hosted a holiday luncheon at their campground Normandy Farms for seniors, veterans, families or anyone in need in the community. St. Mark’s sponsored the event and we provided financial support with gift cards for our guests as well as enthusiastic attendance by our congregation. Many thanks to Lisa Conroy who worked very hard to organize the luncheon. We hope to make it an annual affair.

Outreach is a principal ministry of our church.  We are always looking for ways to expand our support of those people in need in our area. The Outreach team is interested in collaborating with other community agencies to expand our ministry. We encourage your ideas and new members are always welcome to our team.
The New Trading Post is a consignment shop and ministry of St. Mark's located at 6 Central St. Foxboro. The NTP offers gently used clothing at remarkably low prices for all in our community and especially those who are in need.

Foxboro Food Pantry collects canned goods, dry goods, and toiletries to assist those in need in our community. Items are gathered at all times and presented as an offering by the children on the first Sunday of each month.

One Family Project works together with other Episcopal parishes in our deanery, we currently support the One Family Project housed at All Saints Episcopal Church, Attleboro.
