New Priest-In-Charge Chosen
Aug 3, 2023
Dear Fellow St. Mark's Parishioners:
As you know, following Fr. Ed's departure in February of 2022, we began a search process to find a new priest. We appointed a Search Committee who worked with the Diocesan consultant to develop a parish profile and collaborate with Trinity Wrentham on candidate selection.
I am very pleased to report that the Search Committee completed their process a couple of weeks ago and recommended to the Vestry that we offer the position of Priest-in-Charge to the Reverend Lauren Lukason, who has been serving as our Bridge Priest since last year. The Vestry met, discussed, and voted to approve the recommendation. Lauren was on vacation, and upon her return had to tend to family affairs. Therefore, the Wardens at Trinity Wrentham and I were able to meet with Lauren yesterday to formally deliver the offer, which she accepted.
We remain in collaboration with Trinity Wrentham for another two years (having entered into collaboration last year). The Priest-in-Charge position is a three-year contract and we could choose to call Lauren as our Rector during, or at the end of, that period. We could also choose to extend our collaboration with Trinity.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for the work of the Search Committee. They were tireless and very thorough in their efforts. Thank you Cindy Bergevine, John de Ris, Shirley Instasi, Jennifer Ooi, Chris Schneider, and Amy Van Dell!
And, many thanks to all of our volunteers who have sustained us during this period of transition.
With gratitude,
Tina Shinnick, Warden
