Thank you and Happy Lent!

Easter Flowers for the Altar

3/11/2022

Picture
Easter is fast approaching, and it is time to celebrate our risen Lord!  As a tradition, our parishioners have donated plants in remembrance of, in thanksgiving for, or in honor of loved ones. If you would like to continue this tradition, please consider donating a plant, or maybe even several!

All the plants are grown at Lyons’ Greenhouse in town, so you'll be supporting a local business as well! The cost is $20 per plant and the deadline for ordering is Wednesday, April 13th.

Checks should be made out to St. Mark’s with a notation of “flowers”. Order forms and cash/checks can be mailed to or dropped off at the church in the mailbox (which is a secure drop box).

Online Ordering is available here.

New Opportunity For LENT

3/4/2022

Picture
The Outreach Committee will be providing our parishioners with a wonderful opportunity during Lent to help the many homeless people in Boston. We will be working with MANNA, a ministry of St Paul's Cathedral in Boston. There are 3 very important things they need for these individuals:
  • Socks (new)
  • $5 gift cards to McDonald's Restaurants
  • CharlieCards so they can ride on the MBTA (or money so they can be purchased by the staff)
Rev. Jennifer McCracken from St Paul's manages this program. She will coming out to speak to us during Lent  and to explain more about MANNA.

If you're interested in participating in this great program, there will be a box in the Narthex for the socks. Gift cards or checks can be given to the clergy or any member of the Outreach Committee. Thank you for your help!

More info about the MANNA ministry here.

3/4/2022

Picture
The Faith and Spirituality Ministry is happy to announce that after a two year postponement due to Covid, it will be sponsoring its fifth annual Spring Retreat from April 22 through April 24.  Once again we will be going to St. Margaret’s Convent and staying in the house pictured here, directly overlooking Duxbury Bay. The house is lovely, located in a private area that is beautiful and peaceful. We are fortunate to have the retreat program facilitated by Sister Sarah.

The house can accommodate 11 people. It is handicapped accessible with one twin, one single bedroom and a full bath on the first floor and one twin and six single bedrooms with 2 full baths on the second floor.  The cost is $80. per person (Confidential subsidized funding is available if needed. Please see either Tina Shinnick or Lisa Conroy, Wardens).

Space is limited so we urge you to sign up as soon as possible by contacting Janet Pineault or the church office.  Payment is due by Sunday, April 3rd, payable by check to St. Mark’s Retreat.  We will leave Foxboro on Friday at 2:00pm; late arrivals can be arranged.  Program will begin with the evening meal after all have arrived.

If you have questions, please contact Janet Pineault or the church office.
