Tenebrae: A Holy Week Field Trip With St. Mark's & Trinity

3/25/2024

Picture
You are invited to join parishioners of St. Mark's and Trinity for a Holy Week field trip to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Providence, RI on Wednesday, March 27 for a 7:30pm service of Tenebrae, sung by RenaissanceMen.

Come and let the music and prayers wash over you. Lament at what we perceive to be the diminishing Light in the world. And find yourself reminded of that Easter hope that exists even in a Good Friday world.

Incense may be used at this service.

Carpooling is recommended. If you need a ride or can offer a ride, please email Rev. Lauren

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is located at 114 George Street, Providence, Rhode Island, 02906.

Holy Week and Easter Schedule 2024

3/17/2024

Picture
Join with fellow parishioners of St. Mark's, Foxborough and Trinity, Wrentham, and Christians around the world as we journey through Holy Week and into the joyous celebration of Easter.

Starting with Palm Sunday, we'll walk alongside Jesus on his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. During Holy Week, our services will invite us into the poignant moments of Jesus' walk through Jerusalem to the Cross, the despair and lament even He must have felt, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, deepening our understanding of Christ's sacrifice and the transformative power of love.

Then, on Saturday evening, at the Great Vigil of Easter, and Easter Sunday, join us as we rejoice in the resurrection, affirming the promise of new life and redemption.

Whether you worship with us every week or are trying on the idea joining a faith community for the first time (or the first time in a long time), all are welcome to join us for Holy Week and Easter services at Trinity and St. Mark's to embrace the grace and renewal of this sacred season.

Bible Reflection at St. Mark’s

3/17/2024

Picture
Fra Angelico (ca 1400-1455), Mocking of Christ, ca 1440-41
Our parish will resume Bible Reflections during Lent. We plan to hold a series of three soul-searching reflections on Christ’s Passion. This time we’ll gather on Thursdays. Our gatherings will be in-person and on Zoom (the link will be sent to all interested).

March 28th Washing of the Feet - (with Agape Meal) - Learning gratitude through humility
We’ll meet at 7:00 pm in the undercroft.

Simple Potluck Supper
As our bodies need some nourishment, please bring along a simple dish to share, if you’re able. Please leave a comment on what you could bring on the signup sheet in the lobby of the church or contact Joanna Eva.

Music - The Rev. Lauren Lukason will lift our souls to the mood of Lent.

Scripture and Reflection – We’ll reflect on the descriptions of the three stages of Christ's Passion in the New Testament and discuss their timelessness and the lessons we can draw from them through suffering and service.

For more info contact Maria de Ris, Eric Bridgham, or the church office.

Holy Week Musical Offering

3/16/2024

Picture
Please join us as St. Mark's Director of Music, Esther Zabinski (alto), with Jeanine Belcastro Went (soprano), and Daniel Zabinski (piano) perform Pergolesi's Stabat Mater this Sunday, March 24 at 7:00pm.

There stood the Mother grieving,
Beside the cross weeping,
While it hung her Son...

Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, is one of the most well-known settings of the hymn to Mary Jesus' Mother. It speaks to the Crucifixion as experienced by Mary, and the pain and sorrow she felt -- as a mother -- as she witnessed the death of her Son, Jesus.

A freewill offering will benefit area organizations that serve mothers whose sons have died at the hands of violence.
