A Letter from Reverend Cathy

8/15/2026

Picture
Dear St. Mark's friends,

I'm delighted to let you know that as of this month's vestry meeting, the bishop has appointed me Priest-in-Charge at St. Mark's. This contractual change in my status gives us a set period of time (three years), and some guidelines for our work together.

To use a summertime metaphor: I feel we are putting down some roots and getting our garden established. I can't wait to see what's coming!

Love, Cathy

Jesus Has Left the Building

8/14/2026

Picture
Mini Jesus continues to make the most of these summer days! This week He spent some time on Cape Cod, wandered among the beautiful plants and flowers at the Smith College Botanic Garden, explored the gardens and grounds of Naumkeag, and even paused to admire an amazing cloud formation on the way to Western Massachusetts.

From familiar summer places to beautiful gardens and unexpected sights in the sky, Mini Jesus keeps reminding us to notice the beauty around us and to look for God in the places we go and the moments we might otherwise pass by. Keep taking Jesus with you and keep the photos coming. Send us a picture and a few words as we continue discovering that Jesus has, indeed, left the building.

If God is with you in spirit and not in mini Jesus form, send along your photos and they will be included as well. Submit your photos by CLICKING HERE. To request a Mini Jesus, pick one up in the entry of the church or email [email protected]. We can't wait to see where He turns up next!

Parish Office August Schedule Update

8/13/2026

Picture
Our parish office volunteer, Sandy Chappuis, is taking some well-deserved vacation time! As a result, there will be no office hours on Thursday, August 20 or Thursday, August 27.

We are very grateful to Sandy for the time she gives so generously to St. Mark’s each week, and we hope she enjoys her time away.

If you have a question or concern that needs attention while Sandy is away, please contact Jenn Oberlander

St. Mark's Bell: Powerful Enough to Lift the Next Generation

8/11/2026

Picture
The church bell got quite a workout recently, and so did our young bell ringers!

We're grateful for these joyful moments that bring generations together, share our traditions with the young members of our church family, and remind us that faith is best experienced hands-on.

Here's to keeping our traditions, and our bell, ringing strong for years to come!

Last Chance to Donate a Backpack!

8/11/2026

Picture
Our Backpack Collection for local students wraps up Sunday, August 23, so there is still time to help a child start the school year prepared and ready to learn. As the cost of school supplies continues to rise, many families struggle to afford back-to-school necessities. The YMCA collects and distributes new backpacks to students in several local communities, including many served by our parish.

If you have not yet had a chance to participate, please consider picking up a new backpack and placing it in the collection box in the church entry by August 23. Every backpack donated helps a local student head into the new school year with the supplies they need and the confidence to get started. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed and to all who continue to support our neighbors through St. Mark’s Outreach.

Photography/Social Media Help

8/10/2026

As we continue improving our website and online presence, we’re hoping to find a couple of parishioners who might enjoy helping St. Mark’s with two small but meaningful volunteer roles: someone to help us capture photos and someone to help us share simple posts on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

No formal titles, no big commitments—just people who enjoy taking pictures, making short videos, or posting online in a way that feels natural and welcoming. If you already do this for fun, you might be a great fit.

If you have any interest, or even just want to learn more about what this could look like, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact Eric Bridgham
